The Vienna State Opera is one of the most important opera houses in the world and an outstanding venue for the Wiener Mozart Konzert. Built between 1861 and 1869 in Neo-Renaissance style, it was inaugurated with Mozart’s Don Giovanni.
As the “First House on the Ring,” it has been shaped by legendary figures such as Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss, and Herbert von Karajan. After being severely damaged during World War II, the building was faithfully restored and reopened in 1955.
